Greetings,
Thanks to everyone who attended GLIF TECH in Prague! The talks and the conversation were very productive.
As discussed, the GLIF TECH co-chairs would like to propose that we make the coming year a “year of experimentation”, and that we move to series of small, topical 3-4 hour long meetings over the course of 2015-2016.
The idea is that each side meeting would be a bit of an "unconference", with talks prepared in advance and shared with the other attendees, but not necessarily presented. We'd like to preserve the 3-4 hours for discussion of presentations that were already shared and digested, followed by concrete planning and next steps. Each such meeting would be organized at an event already attended by many of the intended participants, minimizing travel.
We ask all members of this task force to reply privately to Eric and Lars (emails listed below) with answers to the following questions:
1) What meetings / locations would you like to tie such small group meetings to? (For example "Internet2 Global Summit.”, “TNC”, “GENI Engineering Conference”, etc) Remember, the goal is to pick meetings that are likely to have a large number of interested GLIF TECH participants for the topic at hand.
2) What topics would you like such small group meetings to discuss? (Ideally, the topics will be aligned with the overall agenda or working plan of a taskforce, and be able to make substantial progress on clarity or consensus for a topic during the meeting.)
3) Are you interested in being a "Venue Champion" who can make a side meeting at a particular conference happen? If so, which meeting(s)?
4) Are you interested in being a "Topic Champion" who will organize the discussion at a side meeting? If so, which topic(s)?
Thanks in advance for trying something new with us!
