The interest in lightpaths is growing fast among university researchers, as shown during the first round of the SURFnet-organized Enlighten Your Research competitions to build end-to-end lightpaths to the research laboratory. SURFnet and Dutch funding agency NWO have short-listed 18 proposals. Winners will each receive EUR 5,000 to detail their proposals in the following months. Up to five proposals will be awarded EUR 20,000 and a lightpath.
